Step 1: Sheet metal stock is fed
directly
into the shear until contact is made with the adjustable back gage.
The shear is then activated, material hold downs clamp the sheet
metal in place while the shear blade comes down and cuts the sheet
metal into desired width strips.
Step 2: Sheet metal strips from step one are collected and
then held against the squaring arm to keep the strip edges square with
the shear blade. One at a time the strips are fed into the shear until
contact is made with the adjustable back gage, each time the back gage
is contacted the shear is activated and the strips are cut a second
time into rectangular shaped blanks of the desired size.
